The Ogle yDNA Project
The Ogle yDNA project is at FamilyTreeDNA.com. Its mission is to establish the parentage of the 1664 American Colonial immigrant, John Ogle of Delaware.
Men who carry the Ogle or Ogles surname are encouraged to join the project and upload their GEDCOM in their FTDNA dashboard to share their family tree. You can find out how to do this by watching this video:
Remember to adjust your privacy settings according to your sharing preferences. The genetic genealogy site also provides communications tools for people with common matches, so privacy can still be maintained if you prefer not to share your GEDCOM with other FTDNA members.
If Ogle/Ogles men from lines other than John of Delaware can provide lineage back to the early to mid-1600s, this will provide a better understanding of how closely those lines and those of John of Delaware relate.
Be sure to send our project leader Jim Gilbert, sourced documentation of your Most Distant Ancestor. Since the project is focused on provable links to English Ogles, we kindly ask participants to avoid muddying the waters with claims to ancestors surnamed “de Ogle,” or uploading charts terminating with “Humphrey de Ogle.”
